the year that was...

2003

january... wendy was here & we joined the throng on the plaza to greet the newyear, handing out sparklers & groundbloom flowers!

february... the big adventure, gavin & i went to haiti for my brother david's wedding (& kanaval!) & to finally hold in our arms the most beautiful baby in the world, pamela roxanne.

march... joined womenfriends for our annual EVC retreat, this year at SeaRanch in sonoma county. it's a very upscale community, but a bunch of us split the rental for a long relaxing & companionable weekend.

april... we thot winter was over, then on aprilfool's day, this is what happened! looks like snow, but it's actually hail. didn't last long, tho.

may... the first lemon on my lemon tree! it's been in the ground for 10 years & i was about to give up on it, then look at this beauty! guess it just needed some time to get settled in.

june... garden is a continuous delite, i really don't want to do much besides stay home in it. it was an amazing sunny summer, not at all like what we oldtimers around here remember summers being like, meaning LOTS of fog

july... "church of digging in the dirt" isn't just a (sortof) joke, i'm actually a minister in universal life church, & here i am, having just married my friend kathy & her sweetie riley! (all couples i have married are still married!)

august... this was the Big Occasion, my 60th birthday! (60?? how did that happen?) threw myself a big party, it was a beautiful day, yard was full of my favorite people, here are some library folks helping me celebrate.

september... at this time every year, the chamber readers have their garden party for board members, readers, & former readers in (former reader) lynne's amazing garden.

october... visited wendy in seattle, got a good autumn color fix & met her new dog stella. i fell in love with her, but topaz is going to take her time deciding.

november... westhaven center for the arts had a wonderful fundraiser, a "harvest hootenanny", with apple pressing, great food, music, & a raffle. a good time was had by all!

december... the amanitas are back! they didn't show up last year, because the woods behind my house had been disturbed by some heavy equipment, so glad to see them arise again.
