the teardrop

homemade in 1946, about the same year my father built one that we camped with for many years, i loved it dearly, tho we kids slept in a tent while mon&dad slept in the trailer. broke my heart when he sold it. i acquired this one in 2000, with the first of my inheritance money.

most recent (& perhaps last ever) trip with my beloved teardrop -- spring 2005

bob's friend dan tried a temp fix, which worked for awhile, but the problem was more profound*

flat tire - no spare!

*plywood floor extends beyond metal frame, & after 60 years is starting to rot, aluminum body sinking down around the frame. requires total rebuild. don't see that happening. so i guess it's now a summer guest bedroom!

so here it sits in my back driveway. brother david's corvair is in the tent, i think he's given up on that, too.
