DECEMBER

wow, december! this year's almost gone, how did that happen?

we had a coldsnap here, early in the month. i think it was 3 nites of hard freeze, lots of death in the garden. awfully pretty, tho

first of the december fullmoons, rising over arcata. there'll be another at the end of the month!

housemanaged for the dell'arte show a few more times, & luckily was able to attend a couple other shows too! arcata playhouse's "very playhouse christmas" was greatfun of course.

the library had a catered holiday party at the maritime center again, we're wondering how it still fits in a budget, but we're not complaining. lovely place, wonderful food, lots of good company -- away from work!

this is kati, also a cancer survivor!

McKinleyville Community Choir (i missed the foto shoot)

we had lots of gigs this month, such fun! our first was probly our best, at morris graves museum, for arts alive in eureka. or maybe it's just that it was great to finally have an audience. we did good.

tomaseen foley tells sweet irish stories, & "his band of Irish musicians and dancers make the rafters ring with music of the fiddle, bodhran, tin whistle, and uilleann pipes". they do a short tour (out of medfordOR) every december, i'll be trying to see it everyyear from now on, they were amazing.

trinidad had a party, & some of the folks from song circle met at ned's gallery to sing carols. we were so cute, the newspaper had to put us on the front page!

we had a solstice party at WCA on the sunday before solstice, close enuf! debbie & i put a songbook together, not just christmas songs. penne from songcircle led singalong, i was so happy.

then on monday, solstice nite, one of the people from songcircle had a party, & we sang a lot.

later that nite at lezley's bonfire, there was more singing!

in years past i've usually felt a bit letdown by the holidays 'cos it never seemed like there'd been enuf singing. what with the choir, & songcircle, & music around the bonfire, this year i finally got enuf!

we've just been thru a very dark time, dark of the moon AND dark of the sun! & it took it's toll -- i know 3 people who died during the fortnite leading to solstice. but now we've pushed off from the bottom, & days are getting longer, & spring seems possible.

 YULETIDE GREETING

goodbye sean & michele, you'll be missed...

christmas eve walk along the bay, after singing with the choir at a mostlymusic service

christmas dinner with friends

on newyears eve was the second fullmoon of the month, which made it, by one definition, a blue moon !

...& there it is! a storm was moving in that nite, so full moon rising over the airport is hidden by clouds. it was a lovely walk anyway, didn't start raining until we were finished.

after the walk i met friends at moonstone grill for a drink. they stayed for a romantic dinner, but i went home to dressup & then go into arcata for a party!

hungout with friends, danced, sang, setoff groundbloomflowers out front after midnite -- & considered the newyear suitably welcomed in!
