a long weekend in SF - early november 08

went down to see the oncologist at UCSF on a friday, stuck around to have a wonderful time in the bay area! stayed with diane in sausalito, went to the new deyoung in SF, saw a great play at ACT, celebrated on sunday with diane & her friends on her 60th birthday.

new de young museum in san francisco

my first visit to the new, & very modern, museum, LOVED it! wanted to see the maya lin exhibit, & then diane showed me a few of her favorite pieces. we couldn't stay long, dogs were in the van in sausalito. the sausalito dog "hotel" wouldn't take them for the day as i had hoped, because they "might bark". i guess the dogs in sausalito don't bark.

adored this wall in the garden...

diane's 60th birthday was on sunday & she threw a big party, yay! it was in the travis marina at fort baker, with a view of the GG bridge. she's a caterer & so are lots of her friends, so the potluck dinner was astounding.

sunday nite after the party, boomer & i were walking around the neighborhood & found a jogging stroller somebody had put out with the trash! topaz had never taken to the cart i got for her, last time we tried it, she flung herself sideways & tipped it over. so i had been telling diane& lissa that day i was gonna keep an eye out for some kind of stroller so she could at least go along on walks instead of always being left behind. & there it was! she fits into it perfectly & LOVES going along! this is in the woods at home...

two of the days i was there were PERFECT days, mild temperature, no wind, clear sky -- unusual for SF, & what a blessing!
