Earlier I said 
"Lily, Kentucky was where we visited and felt like home. My first memories in life were living in Lily in 1952."
Mother was born Lockie Cole, of Lily, Kentucky. She passed on in January, year 2000, aged 79. Mother grew up in the country around Lily Kentucky and Mum, pamela and myself lived there in 1952 while Papa was in england waiting for us to join him there.
Many of the Coles have remained living in and around Lily over the past 50 years. A wonderful tradition which they have kept up is a family re-union on Decoration Day. Most of the traditional families of the area have re-unions at this time and the Coles are nothing if not traditional.
In 1998 Father, sister Pamela, brother Kevin and I visited Lily for the Cole re-union. We had tried for months to convince Mum that she was coming but she refused to leave the house. Pamela and Kevin had visited a few times in the previous ten years but that was my first visit since 1963 (for cousin Betty Sues' wedding).
Pictures above are from June of the year 2000. Our uncles Matthew and Dave, Aunt Bernice and her son E.C with cousin Jim, then Pamela with Bernice.
Below is a minor slew of cousins, "Cousin Sue", now known in her adult life as Carolyn ( but I must call her Cousin Sue ) and her sister Connie, both daughters of Uncle Matt. Uncle Matt is known as Jim in his adult life west of the Mississippi. Joanie is next, daughter of John Houseladen and Sue Cole, then Melissa, daughter of Aunt Bernice.
The multiple names situation is a continuation of the practices of both the Lyall and Cole families of children being called by their middle names, then allowing the USA military culture to impose the "first name, middle initial" orthodoxy upon american folk traditions. Cousin Sues' full given names are "Carolyn Sue". Connie kept her fist name as the given name all of her life it appears.
